PITIK-BULAG: Be Mindful of God.

It’ Monday! Another new week ahead of us. Let’s rise and shine. Let choose to be more aggressive, determined, and positive. Having a positive disposition matters a lot. Don’t dwell too much on bad news. Take them as part of life’s challenges. Set your mind on the right things. Be more productive and hopeful. Choose to be happy. Never allow fear and anxieties to distract your mind. Pause for a while and commune with God. Let us BRING THE BEST IN US … our best foot forward … by wearing the lens of faith in the midst of pandemic. Nariyan na ang Covid sa buhay natin. May magagawa ba tayo diyan? Let’s embrace the pandemic as part of our life at the moment. Denying its existence in our life will not help us. Let’s look at the new graces in the new normal.

In our gospel today, the disciples asked Jesus, “WHAT MUST WE DO IF WE ARE TO CARRY OUT GOD’S WORK?” And Jesus gave them this answer, “This is carrying out God’s work: YOU MUST BELIEVE IN THE ONE HE HAS SENT.”

In this gospel pericope, Jesus expressed his great disappointment with the crowd who followed him. He knew their intentions in following him. IT WAS NOT BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO KNOW HIM MORE, BUT BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY WOULD GET FROM HIM. It was all about his ayuda, and not to know him more intimately.

Jesus said, “In all truth, I tell you, you are looking for me not because you have seen the signs but because YOU HAD ALL THE BREAD YOU WANTED TO EAT. Do not work for food that goes bad, BUT WORK FOR FOOD THAT ENDURES FOR ETERNAL LIFE, which the Son of Man will give to you.” (John 6:26-27).

In response to this challenge by the Lord, the disciples replied, “What must we do to perform the works of God?” (John 6:28).

WHAT ABOUT US? What is your deepest desire? If God will ask you to do something, what is it? Do you long to know Jesus more intimately?

BE MINDFUL OF GOD’s WILL. Set your mind and heart to LASTING THINGS, like love, peace, and inner joy. This pandemic may linger in our midst a little longer. It will test our spiritual stamina, inner strength, and faith. But with God at our side, we can survive this pandemic. Focus on doable tasks. Spend your time and energy on worthwhile things.

Seek to deepen your relationship with your loved ones. Seek to improve the life of someone today. Seek to paint a smile on the face of someone. Be more generous to the poor and hungry. Support the community pantry. Be more forgiving and patient. Wear a positive attitude. Assist the sick, the lonely, and the lost. Seek to deepen your faith in God. SEEK THE WILL OF GOD and NOT ONLY HIS AYUDA.

Be more mindful of God.
You are in His mind.

——

Dear God,
I’m hungry for your life-giving love,
You are my soul’s refuge and fortress.

I deeply yearn for your intimacy,
and nothing can satisfy this hunger,
but You alone, my dearest Savior.

As I begin this wonderful week,
satisfy my hunger for your love,
let your Living Word fill my spirit.

Relieve my hunger for understanding,
let my faith be my guide and strength,
to hold firmly on to your mysterious plans.

Relieve my hunger for temporal wealth,
and let my longing for heavenly things,
be my top priority today and every day.

O Lord, give me your Bread of Life.
Inebriate my soul with your Holy Spirit,
and fill my unquenchable hunger for You.

O Dear God, bless all my undertakings today.
Bless all the members of my family and friends.
Bless the whole world with your healing and care.
Never allow us to be separated from you.
Walk with me and show me the right path.
And allow me to bless anyone along my way.

Amen.
