Dear Jesus,
I must admit … I’m not
a die-hard believer of your great power.
I still entertain doubts in you and in your words.
Yes, I proclaim that you’re my Lord and my God,
yet, my lack of trust in you betrays my faith.
Like many of us believers, I question your will,
I tend to resent when my prayers are unanswered,
I question your love when you allow me to get sick,
I doubt your protection when my foes insult me,
I become impatient when you’re so silent in my prayers,
I become envious when you bless others more than I,
I doubt your forgiveness when I have sinned against you,
I hesitate to take a risk when you invite me to jump.
I entertain fear when daily challenges and trials come,
I become anxious when things are not going well,
I run away from my ghosts, darkness and daily cross,
I close my ears when you ask me to take the rocky path,
and I run away from you when you ask me to love you more.
O dear Jesus, my God, have mercy on me,
give me the grace to hold on to your promises,
and never allow me to stray away from your presence.
Let me trust your Words and be more confident
that you know what’s best and right for me.
I believe you have lots of things in store for me,
but you want me to entrust everything to you.
Never allow me to blink in my faith,
never allow me to doubt your goodwill,
never allow me to look at the easy road,
never allow me to be lazy and lukewarm,
never allow me to be anxious about the future,
never allow me to dwell on my past mistakes,
never allow me to run away from my crosses,
never allow me to close my eyes to the needy,
never allow me to be tempted by worldly treasures,
never allow me to entertain doubts and anxieties,
never allow me to sink when life’s storms come,
and never allow me to choose other gods than YOU.
I believe in miracles … a life-defining stroke of your hands.
I believe you can make one, two, or more miracles for me.
But what you want me TO GIVE is MY FULL TRUST IN YOU.
O dear God, give me the grace to trust you
and let me reap a good happy life at hand.
Open my eyes. Let me see you at any moment.
But if I can’t see you … let me close my eyes
and entrust my life to your mysterious WAYS.
O LORD, NEVER LET ME BLINK.
Amen.
