Triumph of the Cross
When our omnipotent God fully embraced humanity by becoming one like us, we were struck and dumbfounded. Did we ask why? Are we really precious in His eyes? Do we deserve such a “divine glance” to look at us – sinners and unfaithful?
But God went further into the abyss of our darkness. He did not just stay with us in this world. He chose to suffer and die on the cross to redeem us from eternal damnation. We are deeply awed by the depth and breadth of his redeeming and transforming love. The God hanging on the cross is the manifestation of God’s love to the fullest! This love is beyond understanding, and yet it captures our souls and creates ripples of indescribable joy to our wounded hearts. It’s refreshing to know there’s a merciful God who loves and forgives us without limits! A God who tells us – YOU ARE IMPORTANT TO ME, I LOVE YOU. HINDI KITA IIWAN.
With my gratitude, I respond …
I Believe in You
Dear God,
help me in my unbelief.
Never allow my lack of faith
to stop me from following you.
When I fall astray along the way
and I think of nothing but myself,
let me look at the cross and
learn from your SELFLESSNESS.
When anxiety comes in
and I think of nothing but fear,
let me look at the cross
and learn from your COURAGE.
When my cross becomes heavier,
and I am tempted to surrender,
let me look at the bloody cross
and get strength from your WOUNDS.
When I must do something that I dislike,
and I am tempted to run away from it,
let me look at the cross and hear you,
“Not my will Lord, but your HOLY WILL.”
When someone insulted and wounded me,
and I am tempted to take revenge and hurt him,
let me look at the cross and listen to you,
“Forgive them, they don’t know what they’re doing.”
When everything seems to crumble and fall
and I think of nothing but failure and frustrations,
let me let go of my desire to control everything,
and say, “Into your hands, I commend my spirit.”
When I am totally wounded and losing hope,
and I am tempted to give up and surrender,
let me look at the lonely cold cross,
and see you have embraced it.
I believe everything will be fine in my life.
I believe I can smile at the end of the day.
I believe there’s a reason for everything.
And I believe you will never leave me alone.
But for me now,
let me learn from you.
Teach me to carry my cross.

John 3: 13-17
“As Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”
