PITIK-BULAG: A Greener But Safer Place
When was the last time you told God, “How much longer are you going to keep us waiting? If you really love us, help us now.” We are simply impatient and hardheaded in our prayer. We want a quick solution to end this pandemic. But sad to say, we don’t see the end of this long tunnel. This crisis invites us to be more patient, resilient, and courageous.
It is interesting to note that the Jews have expressed the same sentiment, “How much longer are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us openly.” (John 10:24).
The answer of Jesus to the Jews was very revealing: “I HAVE TOLD YOU, BUT YOU DO NOT BELIEVE. The works I do in my Father’s name are my witness; but you do not believe, because you are no sheep of mine. The sheep that belong to me LISTEN TO MY VOICE; I know them and they follow me.” Thus, we put the blame on Jesus but ourselves. We DON’T FULLY BELIEVE IN HIM and we DON’T LISTEN to his voice. (John 10: 25-27).
Jesus is the Good Shepherd. We are his sheep. No doubt about it. Unfortunately, we don’t have the BURNING DESIRE TO HUMBLY LISTEN to Him. Our hearts are arrogant impatient. We insist on the things we want, and not on what God wants from us. In the end, we experience a silent God. We find ourselves waiting for nothing. THERE IS NOTHING TO GAIN WHEN WE INSIST ON WHAT WE WANT. IT’S A DEAD END AND A LOST CAUSE. And yet, we still insist on what we want. We choose to wait for nothing, hoping that God will change his mind and grant our wish.
We are God’s servants. We are bound to obey the Master’s instructions. We are God’s children. We are destined to listen to the voice of our Heavenly Father. He knows what best in everything. We are bound to listen to God, and not the other way around. A sheep should submit himself to Shepherd’s voice. HE KNOWS WHERE THE GREEN FIELDS ARE, AND HE WILL NEVER BRING HIS SHEEP TO GREENER FIELDS WHERE BAD WOLVES LIVE. Our foresight is limited. We don’t see everything ahead of us, but God sees everything.
How often do you listen to Jesus? In this crisis, do you still insist on the things you want? Or are you willing to do anything for the good of everyone?
In times of pandemic, do you regularly meditate on His Words? Is your life guided by His Words and Wisdom? Do you have the tendency to insist on what you want in your prayer? Are you open to God’s daily instructions? Are you convinced that God knows best? Matthew said, “See ye first the Kingdom of God, and all these things will. be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33).
Listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd. He knows the location of the greener pasture and where the bad wolves gather. So please, resist insisting that you know everything and you know what best for you.
