PITIK-BULAG: Praying for Strength and Courage

Dear God, my Heavenly Father,
You have given me another day to live,
and I am grateful for this wonderful gift of life.
I have many reasons not to rise from my bed,
for I am tired and consumed by my daily challenges.
And yet I know, there are many more good reasons
to RISE AND SHINE and continue to seek your will.

I was struck by your consoling Words,
“Today and tomorrow and the next day
I must go on since it would not be right
for a prophet to die outside Jerusalem.”
(Luke 13:33)

Yes Lord, I understand. Your words are clear.
I AM A PROPHET to my family and everybody.
Fear, wounds, and fatigue must not dismay me
to seek your will and to do it wholeheartedly.
I am a bearer of your GOOD NEWS to all.

But I beg you, Lord, never leave me alone.
Give me the strength to sustain my energy.
Heal my wounds with your loving embrace.
Give me wisdom in front of my enemies.
And give me enough grace I need today.

In spite of the difficulty and bitterness of life,
and the seemingly impossible task ahead of me,
I will never give up, and I will fight up to the end;
for prophets like me, like your faithful followers,
and like You – should not die outside Jerusalem.

I must not run away from my challenges.
I must not fade away in front of my foes.
My wounds will not stop me from loving.
My fatigue will not drain my energy to serve.
My failures will not stop me from trying again.
And I will give my very best in all I do today.

Thank you, Lord, for your never-failing presence,
especially in my trials, failures, and loneliness.
I know one of these days, I will see the light.
I believe happiness is just around the bend.
I will never allow my frustrations and pains
to stop me from serving you faithfully.

I love you, Lord,
and I promise today,
I will never let you down.
I will follow you more faithfully,
as I carry my daily cross with joy.

Amen.
